Robert Hooke
Robert Hooke (28 July 1635 - 3 March 1703) an English Philosopher, had also discovered something important. He used the early compound microscope and placed a sliver of cork under the lense. He saw cells! He named these small squares; cells. This is because they reminded him of the tiny rooms where monks lived. This was a glorious discovery, as no one knew anything about cells up to that point. This discovery began to interest other scientists, and as time progressed so did the microscope’s advancement.
If you saw small squares (cells) what would you name them?
